Evelyn Krape has enjoyed thirty years of diverse acting experiences in
the theatre,and film and television, beginning as a stalwart at the Pram
Factory. She featured in Dimboola, Betty Can Jump, The Hills Family Show,
A Toast to Melba. In the last, Evelyn won the 1976 Best Actress Award from
the National Critics’ Circle for her portrayal of Nellie Melba at that year’s
Adelaide Festival premiere production.
Since then she has worked for the MTC, Playbox, and the Victorian Opera
Company. One of Evelyn’s biggest successes was the virtuoso one-woman
play, Female Parts, by Dario Fo and Franca Rama, which, after a national
tour, sustained a packed-out return Melbourne season.
More recently, Evelyn has played several major roles with Glenn Elston’s
‘Shakespeare in the Gardens’, as well as Emma Celebrazione, and Jack Hibberd’s
Legacy and Long Time No See directed by Daniel Schlusser.
Films include Quigly Down Under, Babe 1 & 2, The Sound of One Hand Clapping.
Television: Australia You’re Standing In It, Flying Doctors, Homicide, and
Blue Heelers.
Evelyn Krape won the 1993 Victorian Green Room award’s ‘Best Actress in
Musical Theatre’ for Ginger at the Playbox, and found herself nominated in
1997 for Legacy, and The Visit in 1999. Again in 2002 she was Green Room
Award nominated, in the Female Actor- ‘Body of Work’ category.

2004: Ironing Out the Wrinkles – Tasmanian tour. Escape, written by Jill Kitson,
director Lois Ellis, at Frankston’s Cube 37.

11thHour theatre company – directors Anne Thompson and Will Henderson.
