In Melbourne there is a lot of work being done to preserve and encourage the learning of Yiddish.

The performance of ‘Ek Velt’ helps with this endeavour by providing ‘Surtitles’ which act like subtitles when you are watching a foreign language program on TV.

The surtitles are projected on the top of the stage, and provide live translation of the show.

A great opportunity to experience the rich culture of Yiddish Theatre, and learn a bit about the history of Yiddish theatre in Australia, without needing to understand Yiddish!!!
